No, not in Boston. The weather here is supposed to be cool, damp and dreary for the holiday weekend.

By this time tomorrow, however, I will hopefully be sipping fruity drinks on a beach in Tel Aviv.

Suck it, Boston weather!

Back in Boston

The baby naming event at the synagogue was interesting, to a point, since I’ve never actually been to a full-fledged service in a Jewish temple. Lots and lots of Hebrew, of which I know nothing, so most of it was meaningless.

I say “to a point” because, as with all religious services, my limit is about one-half hour before my eyelids start getting heavy and I need to sleep. And this one went on FOREVER.

I finally left the main large gathering room, not sure what they call it, and I retreated to a bench by one of the front doors to entertain myself with my smartphone. Wrong move.

Apparently it’s forbidden to use your cell phone anywhere within this particular temple and I was asked in no uncertain terms to put it away. Oops. “But I’m a goy!” I almost protested, but I thought better of it.

The rest of the weekend was seeing family.

I love NY. But it’s always nice to be home, too.

Made it to NYC

Made It! Staying on 45th floor overlooking Hudson River. Nice view! That is the Freedom Tower in the left off in the distance.

TGIF

Off to New York City for the weekend for a christening, visits with good friends, and the feeling of excitement I get from every visit to Manhattan.

BTW, it’s a Jewish baby, so they don’t call it a christening, I don’t think, since “christening” appears to have about it vague connotations of Christ. Not sure what they call the ceremony. But you get the idea. We just won’t tell anyone I referred to it as a christening, OK?

Should be interesting to tour the city since I’ve not been there since Sandy made a mess of things.

As is usual when I am in NYC, events almost always overtake my abilities to keep up with this blog thing, so expect light posting until Monday.

DogBeers

My weekend ahead will definitely include a dog beer or two. Spread out over an entire weekend, of course.

Last night was amazing for October. T-shirt weather. The streets were full of people. Went of a drink at the Rawhide, the bar where unfriendly middle aged bartenders apparently go to live out their years.

Another gorgeous day today!

On my way to Manhattan to stay with my friend Eugen for a long weekend of R&R. He’s an awesome guy with a beautiful English bulldog named Tiberius, so I get some doggie loving time in this weekend. Quality time with a good friend and tons of attention from a friendly, slobbery pooch in Manhattan. For what more can a person ask?

Taking crazy Boston==>>New York Chinatown bus down again; train back to Boston. So will have some time during that 4.5 hours of boredom each way to find entertaining stuff to post.

Hope all of you have a good weekend. Thanks for visiting!

Holy crap!

If this happened to me, I would go IMMEDIATELY to my nearest lottery retailer and buy as many tickets as I had cash on me.
