Elton John is a bitter twat

I like Elton John’s music, I really do. I think you should be able to separate a person’s politics from their artistic talent, so while I think he is a talented musician in some ways, the old twat should shut his mouth to keep himself out of trouble.
You might have heard that Sir Elton has gone off the rails about Madonna again, telling a media outlet “If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray Of Lightand stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no, she had to go and prove… she looks like a fucking fairground stripper.”
Now John is getting some pushback from people who have understandably pointed out that by any objective measure, Madonna’s career is eclipsing Sir Elton’s. Take this piece at Examiner.com:
Elton John hasn’t had a hit in 15 years, but that didn’t stop him from saying that Madonna’s career is over (something we have heard since 1984). But what is upsetting a lot of people, many who aren’t Madonna fans, is the fact that Elton used the nasty “C” word in order to describe Madonna.
Apparently, Elton John is still angry at Madonna for saying that Lady Gaga’s song “Born This Way” is a ripoff of her own “Express Yourself.” This is something that many critics noted when the song came out. Instead of acknowledging that the songs were similar, Lady Gaga went out of her way to thank Whitney Houston for inspiring the song. She then told Jay Leno that Madonna sent her an email of support, even though Madonna clearly denied this.
Now, Elton John is backpeddling from his nasty comments and saying that they were meant to be said “off the record.” Molly Meldrum, who originally did the interview, is not backpedding at all and indicates that Elton John is smart enough to know that when the camera is on, anything is open to scrutiny. This comes at a time when Elton John has been playing to empty theaters that hold 3,000 seats while Madonna has been playing to audiences of 70,000 per night.
Ouch. Elton, just shut up already. You do some good charity work, so we forgave you when you sold your soul to make money off homophobes Eminem and Rush Limbaugh. Hell, I don’t even like Madonna that much. But her career is clearly far more viable than yours. Aside from that, you’re giving old homosexuals a bad name with all this pointless sniping.
You’re rich. You have beautiful children and, by most accounts, a sweet, adoring husband. How about you consider yourself lucky and show everyone what a happy homo looks like?
If that’s what you named your Monday night bar special, what did you expect?
